Father’s day is coming! Today, I’ll show you my process of drawing and painting a cat in a bow tie with watercolors for Father’s Day. I created this card for my Etsy shop. Here, I’m showing you part of the creation process.
Colors used:
Burnt Umber
Raw Sienna
Burnt Sienna/Red Ochre
Emerald Green
Cobalt Blue
Indigo
White Gouache
Materials
+ Regular print paper cut into 5 x 7 inches
+ Watercolor Paper: Canson 300g, cut into 5 x 7 inches
+ St. Petersburg Watercolors or any other
+ Watercolor brushes – size #8-2 natural and synthetic bristles (similar, similar, similar)
For this card, I’m mostly using a wet-on-dry technique. I add thin layers of paint in small strokes in the direction of the fur. If I add too much pigment, I wipe it with a small piece of paper towel.
To complete the card, you can frame it, glue it to colored cardstock paper, or give it as is with a written message on the back side. I decided to turn it into a downloadable & printable greeting card, which you can get here.
Hope you enjoyed my video, stay tuned for more!
XOXO
